We Believe

We believe the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are the infallible, inerrant word of God; are a divine revelation; are the original autographs that were verbally inspired by the Holy Spirit; and are the supreme and final authority of faith and conduct.

We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and was begotten by the Holy Spirit, was born of a virgin, and is truth God and truly man.

We believe in the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven in that glorified body, in His present life there for us as High Priest, in that “blessed hope”—the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His Church—and in his “glorious appearing” with His Church to build His earthly kingdom.

We believe the Holy Spirit is a person is coequal with God in all His attributes, and is sent by the Lord Jesus Christ from the Father to convict the world of sin and to regenerate, indwell, guide, teach and empower the believer to live in victory over sin.

We believe man was created in the image of God, but in the sin of the first Adam, the whole race fell and became depraved in nature, sinful in conduct, separated from Christ, and is spiritually dead and lost.

We believe salvation is by faith in the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

We believe regeneration is the act of the Holy Spirit whereby the penitent, trusting sinner is renewed in nature, changed in conduct, and brought into the family of God.

We believe entire sanctification is a second work of divine grace, subsequent to regeneration, wrought in the heart of the fully yielded, trusting child of God whereby the heart becomes purified by faith and filled with the Holy Spirit.

Our History

Around 1910, a beautiful 600 acre tract of land in the rolling hill of southern Missouri was donated to the Ozark Holiness Association for establishing a training school for the promotion of holiness. The Ozark Holiness Academy was formed, and the school started in 1914. Bro. T.F. Evans said that when they put the shovel in the ground to begin the three story structure for the school, they had a combined total cash of twelve
dollars. Bro. O'Bryan became president, and the school operated until 1932, during the Great Depression.

In 1936, the remaining 20 acres were deeded to T. F. Evans to continue a training school for the promotion of holiness. He reopened the school as Mt. Zion Bible School, and he served as president. Many preachers and other Christian workers have been sent out from "the hill" to minister in the
far reaches of the harvest field. Bro. Evans has said, "The sun never sets on the fruits of Mt. Zion Bible School." Other early presidents of Mt. Zion were P. M. Cowen, Burl McClanahan, and Noel Scott. Mt. Zion has operated continuously since 1936 as a Biblical, faith based institution. Sacrificial labors and donations have kept the school open through the years.

In the early 50's, Helen Ross, from W.V., was asked ask why she sent her children so far away. She replied, I'm "Building for Eternity!" This became our school motto.

Pre-school through 12th grade is still operating to educate students in a Christian environment.
